Unreasonable charges and unpleasant encounter.


I didn’t received my June 2014 bill, so I didn’t make any payment that month. So when I received the bill in July, I was shocked to see the late charges and the finance charges. I called Citibank and ask for the june’s statement. Waited 5 days to a week to see that statement. They said they will waived the charges once they received the payment. I paid my bill in full without paying for the late charges and finance charges.

August bill came, the late charges and finance charges was not waived, now they charge interest to that late payment. Called them to explain the whole situation, the customer official were impatient and not willing to listen to the whole thing. She mentioned they are only able to waive once, so she can waive the august interest for me. But what I could not comprehend is, if they are able to waive once, why not the July late charges. If that had been waived I will not have any interest in the August for the late charge. I asked to speak to another official cause I cant understand the strong Indian accent of this official and she was not willing to listen.

So the call was transfer to another official and she put up a request for me, after explaining the situation. She mentioned that I could log on to check the status, I try logging in, but was too cumbersome, so I called after 4-5 days. The status was not ready. So I waited for a few more days. The customer official told me it was rejected. I was perplex, why is it rejected? Why no one called to inform? Why no sms? I ask if I can have the official in charge to call me to explain. They promised to call me back the next day, which is today( 29/8/2014), switch on my phone volume to wait for this call, but it never happen.

Called Citibank for the 4 times, took 10-30 minutes to explain the situation again. Promised to call me back on Monday., 6pm. So now I will have to wait for them to call again. If it is another empty promise, I will have to go to CASE or mediation to deal with this. Too time consuming to go through this. The amount is not a big amount, and I always pay the bill in full, so I am not sure why Citibank is making things so difficult.
