Citibank Complaint

Bad Service and Uncooperative Staff

After reading up on all the experiences here, I am writing in to complain about my horrific experience with Citibank Singapore and the way they treat their so-called "customers".

I have outstanding debt with them from a credit card and ready credit account and while the fault of accumulating these debts have been mine, I have been actively trying to get them to waive off the late fees and interest charges of these accounts since they are no longer in use and have been closed.

To date, I have been calling into their debt collection department and trying to a) force a meeting with them so I can have a face-to-face meeting to work on a solution to settle my debts, and b) to have my interest and late fees waived off. My friends have called in before and have had their late charges or interest fees waived off but it seems impossible for me to get mine to do the same.

Maybe I haven't been forceful enough, but I don't believe in being rude to get what I want and the last straw came when I called in yesterday and a staff by the name of Jonathan answered my call. He was not only rude, but he was impatient and got really irritated when I asked him a few questions in a professional tone. The moment that really got to me was when I asked for a payment deadline day to be moved 1 day later, instead of attending to my request, he lectured me on how to save my money! Not only that, but he hung up on me after mumbling a very disgruntled "bye" over the phone. This is very rude, unprofessional and the worst customer service I have ever experienced.

I am contemplating writing in to CASE unless Citibank calls me back and offers me a face-to-face meeting. It is very illogical that I have to keep paying the interest charges that are still in effect and I am very disappointed with the way the staff at their debt collection centre are handling their customer service claims. I was duped into signing up for their cards after the salespeople at their roadshows kept badgering me and instead of signing up for 1 card, they signed me up for 3 other cards without my approval.

Something needs to be done to get these banks to be accountable for the way they handle their customers. I do not know if complaining here is any help but this is a fair warning to those who do not have or are contemplating signing with Citibank: DO NOT even sign with them!
